Privacy Policy

How we handle your personal information. Last updated 1 June 2026.

The short version: We only collect what we need (mostly when you fill in a form), we use analytics to understand traffic, some links set affiliate cookies, and we never sell your data. You can ask us to access or delete your information any time.

1. Who we are

Chatswood.net ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at chatswood.net. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information we collect

  • Information you give us: when you submit a listing, contact us or subscribe to our newsletter, we collect details such as your name, email, phone number, business details and message content.
  • Information collected automatically: like most websites, we collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and referring site, via cookies and analytics tools.

3. How we use your information

  • To respond to your enquiries and process listing submissions;
  • To send our newsletter, if you've subscribed (you can unsubscribe any time);
  • To operate, maintain, analyse and improve the Site;
  • To comply with our legal obligations and prevent misuse.

We do not sell your personal information.

4. Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the Site work, remember preferences and understand how it's used (for example, via privacy-respecting analytics). You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work as well.

5. Affiliate tracking

Some outbound links (especially in Stay & Explore and links marked Featured) are affiliate links. When you click them, our partners may set cookies to attribute any resulting booking to us so we can earn a commission. These cookies are governed by the partner's own privacy policy. See our affiliate disclosure.

6. Third-party services

We rely on trusted third parties to run the Site, which may process limited data on our behalf, including: web hosting and content delivery; analytics providers; form-handling services; email/newsletter platforms; and affiliate networks. Each operates under its own privacy terms.

7. Disclosure of your information

We may disclose personal information to our service providers (above), where required by law, or to protect our rights and safety. Some providers may store data outside Australia; where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure appropriate protection.

8. Data retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or de-identify it.

9. Your rights

Under the APPs you can request access to the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. To make a request, or to complain about how we've handled your information, use our contact form. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

10. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, however, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

11. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be posted here with an updated date.
