How do I get here from the airport?
Fastest is a pre-booked transfer or rideshare (35–45 min). By public transport, take the train towards the city and change to the North Shore line or Metro to Chatswood.
Is there parking in Chatswood?
Yes — large paid car parks at Chatswood Chase and Westfield (with short free intro periods), plus metered street parking. The train/Metro is often easier as parking fills fast.
Does Chatswood have a Metro station?
Yes — the Sydney Metro plus Sydney Trains (T1 North Shore & Northern lines), all beneath Westfield in the heart of the precinct.
What is Chatswood known for?
Outstanding Asian food, two big malls, a major transport interchange, the cultural precinct of The Concourse, and a strong tutoring/education scene.
Is Chatswood good for families?
Yes — cinemas in both malls, family dining, the library and events at The Concourse, playgrounds, and Lane Cove National Park nearby.
What's on at The Concourse?

The Mandarin Centre, Chatswood Interchange (above the station), and the food levels inside Westfield and Chatswood Chase.
Chatswood Chase vs Westfield — what's the difference?

When are the Chatswood Mall Markets on?
On the Victoria Avenue pedestrian mall, typically Thursdays and Fridays — street food, produce and crafts.
Where can I buy Asian groceries?
The Mandarin Centre has an Asian supermarket and grocers, with several more Korean and Asian stores around Victoria Avenue.
Where's the best bubble tea?

What are the shopping centre trading hours?
Westfield and Chatswood Chase generally open around 9–9:30am to 6pm, with late-night shopping until 9pm Thursdays and shorter hours on Sundays and public holidays. Cinemas and some eateries stay open later. More in our shopping guide.
Where can I eat late at night?

Getting around & money
Do I need a car to get around?
No — Chatswood is compact and walkable, with the station, malls and restaurants all within a few hundred metres, plus a bus interchange and the Metro.
How do I pay for trains, Metro and buses?
Tap on/off with a contactless card, phone or smartwatch — Opal works too but isn't required. Daily and weekly fare caps apply automatically.
How much does parking cost?
The Westfield and Chatswood Chase car parks usually give a short free period, then charge hourly with daily caps; street meters are hourly during the day. Rates change, so check the signage — for a short visit the train or Metro is often cheaper and easier.
Do I need to tip at restaurants?
Tipping isn't expected in Australia — staff are paid a proper wage and prices are as marked. Optional for exceptional service.
Why are there so many tutoring centres?
